TRANSFORMATION (FORTRESS WITH SEVEN TOWERS)

The audiovisual composition Transformation: Fortress with Seven Towers is inspired by the history of the Eptapyrgio Fortress in Thessaloniki, Greece, and how its story is reflected in various Rembetiko songs. The work explores how sound, music and place are interrelated and resonate with each other. Berlin-based musician and composer Taner Akyol improvised for Transformation: Fortress with Seven Towers on the Bağlama.
